Pronounciation Help

Many parents want to encourage language learning at home... but don't know how to say the words!

LangaugeGuide.org is the solution! Simply drag your mouse over the vocabulary word to hear it pronounced (topics range from alphabet, colors and numbers to learning the words for the planets, food and travel)

visit: www.languageguide.org and choose your language!

This week in WL4K classes...

Hola / Bonjour!

This week: my name is... what's your name? Children are practicing asking and telling what their names are! Elementary students have all gotten to choose a French / Spanish name for class and made name tags! We are playing all sorts of name games and taking turns rolling or throwing the beach ball to encourage the children to speak in the target language!

Every week, we will be spending about 10-15 minutes reviewing vocabulary or phrases that have been previously taught. This repetition is necessary for language learning and also allows new students to join at any time to catch on.

Bon weekend!

French and Spanish greeting songs!

One of my favorite blogs for getting ideas for lessons and resources for teaching languages to children is www.foreignlanguagefun.com.

Here are 2 videos from her blog that teach French and Spanish greetings vocabulary to simple music that kids know and love.

1st week of classes off to a great start!

Hola / Bonjour!

This week in our language classes, we have had fun learning to say hello and goodbye to one another in the target language, learn how to ask "How are you" and to say whether we are good, bad or just okay! We have already been learning a lot of songs and playing games!

You can incorporate even the smallest amount of language into your daily routine... saying, "Bonjour!" when you pick your daughter up from school, "Gracias!" to you son when he helps around the house, "Adios!" when dad leaves for work, etc. Just by doing this, you are encouraging your little ones to become life-long language learners!

Please be sure that I have your email address since I will be sending out a monthly newsletter with resources and vocabulary lists for you to practice at home. You can email me at:
worldlanguages4kids@gmail.com to be sure to be added to the mailing list.

Gracias! Merci!

One of the BEST french CDs for children is Soyons Amis, by Alain le Lait! He has 3 French CDs as well as a Spanish CD. His tunes are upbeat, catchy and fun for Mom and Dad to listen to also!
Here is a link to his website where you can listen to samples, print off the lyrics and purchase his CDs.
