Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

One of the best ways to review body parts is the song, "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes." Not only are children already familiar with the tune of this song, but it is very repetitive and helps kids learn and RETAIN vocabulary words for the body parts introduced in the song.

Spanish

Cabeza, hombros, rodillas
y dos pies
Cabeza, hombros, rodillas
y dos pies

Ojos, oidos, boca y una nariz
Cabeza, hombros, rodillas
y dos pies

English Translation
(Not on the download.)

Head, shoulders, knees
And two feet
Head, shoulders, knees
And two feet

Eyes, ears, mouth and a nose
Head, shoulders, knees
And two feet

French

Tête, épaules, genoux et pieds, genoux et pieds,
Tête, épaules, genoux et pieds, genoux et pieds,
Deux yeux, deux oreilles, une bouche et un nez,
Tête, épaules, genoux et pieds, genoux et pieds.

Dancing Skeleton Videos

Well... another Halloween has come and gone! But now we get to get ready for Thanksgiving! Over the next month in French and Spanish class, we will begin learning about Food and Drink. We will learn how to say "I like..., I don't like" as it relates to Thanksgiving foods. We also have some fun turkey crafts in store that will reinforce counting, colors and more! Stay tuned!

I couldn't let a Halloween pass us by without posting one of my favorite Halloween videos in French / Spanish. The words are sung quickly, but this is a great video to talk about counting to twelve and telling time. Pause the video and practice counting the skeletons with your little ones!

A B C D Sing Along

We do a ton of song a dance in class, and we have a blast doing it! Courtesy of mamalisa.com, A B C D, Some Carrots and Some Turnips is a fun, simple song you can teach your kids to sing along with! Try using this Midi tone to sing with! Enjoy!

French Version:
A B C D,
Des carottes et des navets
Mon grand-père est enterré
Dans le trou de la cheminée.
Si la cheminée tombe
Ce sera sa tombe
Si la cheminée tombe pas
Ce sera sa croix.

Spanish Version:
A B C D
Zanahorias y nabos
Enterraron a mi abuelo
En el hueco de la chimenea.
Si la chimenea cae
Pues su tumba será
Si la chimenea no cae
Pues su cruz será.

English Version:
A B C D
Some carrots and some turnips
My grandfather has been buried
In the hole of the chimney.
If the chimney falls down
It will be his grave,
If the chimney doesn't
It will be his burden.

Bonjour Song

Hello songs are a wonderful way to help children who are learning a foreign language. It's also nice for children to always sing the same song at the beginning of a class. Hello songs are great for this.
The song below is called "Bonjour". It's a French hello song written and sung by Alain Le Lait. Sit back and enjoy the song by clicking the MP3 below. You can read along with the lyrics in French, followed by an English translation by Alain...
