French / Spanish Halloween Videos

This week and next, we are learning about body parts! Halloween is a great time of year to teach the body parts, using pumpkin faces, label the skeleton, make your own pumpkin/skull etc! We are reading the book, GO AWAY BIG GREEN MONSTER and also singing Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes!

Here are a few great Halloween videos to watch with your kids in French/Spanish!

Here you can find out all the details of our trip and enroll on-line!

Sign up by Dec. 15th and save $200! You can also set up a monthly payment plan.

French people have a hard time speaking English too!

Here is a very funny clip from "The Pink Panther". Steve Martin is one of my all time favorite comedians... here he is pretending to be a French person trying to speak English!

Trip to Quebec, Summer 2011!

WL4K is hosting it's first international trip for students this summer to Montreal and Quebec! This trip is open to any student age 3 and up (traveling with parent chaperone(s)). Travelers are encouraged to have studied French, but the main goal of this trip will be to offer a cultural exposure to the children in a foreign country where English is not the primary language.

I am hosting an information night on Sunday, Oct. 17th from 5-6pm at Rue de Jean (39 John Street). Come have a glass of wine and some hors d'oeuvres while learning more information about this wonderful opportunity for your children!

Please email me at worldlanguages4kids@gmail.com if you plan on attending the meeting on Sunday night!

Authentic French food in Charleston

Add Video
Here are some of the best places to go in Charleston to get a taste of the best food in the world!

Rue de Jean: Located in historic downtown Charleston , SC , 39 Rue de Jean is a refined French café and bar offering the best in classic Brasserie cuisine. The creations of our culinary team pay homage to the classic brasserie cuisine that inspired vehemently loyal Parisians. Guests of 39 Rue de Jean enjoy indoor/outdoor patio seating, cocktails and a predominantly French wine list blended with a selection of our steward's favorites.

Gaulart et Maliclet Cafe: 98 Broad Street (843) 577.9797. Some of the best escargot in Charleston. Try their lunch or dinner plates that come with a glass of wine all for under $10.00!

Macaroon Boutique:
Authentic, traditional bakery/patisserie. Baked every day on site with 99% local ingredients. Macaroons, breakfast pastries, chocolate truffles, cookies, country breads, crusty rolls, all in the French style, all fresh and delicious.

Christophe Artisan Chocolatier: 363 1/2 King Street and in I'on village. The place to go for handmade chocolates to one-of a kind chocolate sculptures.
(also makes great gifts!)

On-line resources from the BBC:

Talk Spanish and Talk French are great video resources for kids (and parents) to learn and practice your new language at home!

For kids only from the BBC:
Probably my favorite web resource for learning french! Primary French from the BBC introduces French language through animated videos and corresponding games.

Primary Spanish is also available but not as extensive as the French site.

Happy Learning!
